Steve Carucci began in this trade at fourteen years old, working alongside his father — a premier fence installer for Sears & Roebuck.
That is where he learned the parts of the job that do not show up in a quote: how deep a post has to go to survive a Massachusetts winter, how to read a grade before you order a single panel, and why the cheapest bid is so often the most expensive fence you will ever buy.
He spent decades as a subcontractor for the big-box home improvement programmes and other local fence companies. Today he is semi-retired and takes on just a few jobs a week — which is deliberate. It means the owner is on your job, start to finish, and it means he finishes yours before starting anyone else’s.
He has very low overhead, and his prices reflect that. He does not mark up materials. He does not take a deposit. You pay when the work is done and you are happy with it — a policy he has kept for as long as he has been in business.
